Baby Name Popularity Lookup
Type any name to see its latest SSA rank, total recorded births, and whether it's used for boys, girls, or both.
Enter at least two letters to search the full SSA name record.
How does the name lookup work?
Where does the lookup data come from?
Every result is read live from the U.S. Social Security Administration baby-name files (national data, 1880–2024). Ranks reflect the most recent release year; nothing is hardcoded.
Why does one name appear twice?
A name given to both boys and girls is recorded separately for each sex, so it can appear as two rows — for example a "Boys" entry and a "Girls" entry — each with its own rank and total.
What does the rank mean?
Rank is the name's position among all names of that sex in the latest data year — rank 1 is the single most common name that year. Names that fell below the SSA disclosure floor (5 births) in the latest year have no current rank.
