NameAlmanac is operated by Kiznis Studio, a one-person studio that is not yet registered as a company. By using the site you accept these terms. They do not limit any right the law of your country gives you.
What the site is
NameAlmanac reports what the Social Security Administration’s baby-name files, SSA’s cohort life tables, the Census Bureau’s count of first names in the 2020 Census and Wiktionary say about first names. The figures are as those sources report them, and each page names its source so you can check it. The living figures are estimates. Nothing on the site is advice, and NameAlmanac is not affiliated with SSA, the Census Bureau or Wiktionary.
Using the data
SSA’s and the Census Bureau’s counts are U.S. government works and free to use. The tables, charts, analyses and text NameAlmanac builds from them are offered under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 licence: reuse them with a credit to NameAlmanac and a link to the page. The licence covers what NameAlmanac adds, not SSA’s counts themselves, which stay in the public domain; the per-name CSV files hold only those counts and are marked as public domain. Meanings quoted from Wiktionary stay under Wiktionary’s CC BY‑SA 4.0 licence, which requires credit and sharing under the same licence; each quote links to its entry.
Automated access
Polite automated reading is welcome: follow robots.txt, identify your client and keep your request rate modest. Do not try to get around security measures or load the site so hard that it slows for readers.
Advertising
Ads are served by Journey by Mediavine. We do not endorse the products advertised, and the privacy page explains what the ad tools store and how to choose.
Liability
The site is provided as is. We work to keep it accurate and correct errors we are told about, but to the fullest extent the law allows we are not liable for decisions made on the basis of its figures. This does not exclude any liability that cannot be excluded by law.
