How the groups are made
A name joins the one group its Wiktionary given-name definition names, in the words of the entry (Valerie is “a female given name from Latin”), even where the etymology traces it through another language. Names Wiktionary has no entry for are in no group; NameAlmanac does not assign origins itself.
Method: the etymology line of each Wiktionary entry; see the methodology page.
